[Your consciousness drifts in to the sound of discordant whispers. It sounds like a hushed argument in another room, something you can't quite catch. You're cold. Your skin tingles slightly, and then...]
[He sits down and pats the sand next to him, bracing some paper on his knee as he begins to write:
I'll be kind to others. I'll respect people. I won't do harm if I can avoid it. I will be open with my friends. I will love and protect those I am close to, and I'll learn how to love and cherish people. My heart won't be closed. I'll be happy, and make those around me happy. I won't be alone.]
[He hands the sheet over to the kid.]
This is a... It's an affirmation. Something to work towards. Keep it and refer to it until it's memorized and live by it.
Now what kind of thing do you think these mists might be able to form? What would mean something to you?
[The mists swirl around a bit, and they do in fact take the shape of a dog. And then suddenly it's a real dog, a huge fluffy monstrosity definitely fit for royalty, because it probably fits something Ariel remembers seeing in the palace at some point.
Don't be nervous, this is going to keep you company. You must not do any harm to it, okay? It'll be your friend, so you won't be lonely. And protect you, so you won't be afraid. Dogs are very good companions.
[The dog is obedient and sits. Ariel approaches cautiously and attempts to copy Sion's petting. The dog is honestly much bigger than him but that's not a bad thing, he hadn't graduated to that kind of violence yet at this age.]
Dogs are hairy. And they shed and sit on you and drool on your face, but it's not bad.
[He looks around, wanting a nice setting... Remembering something from the Dog's realm in Aather. A cozy fireplace with big couches and rugs, and outside sunlight and woods to explore and butterflies to chase. Somewhere nice.]
[It takes awhile for that to form. Sion's basically deciding the shape of the zone, and that's a massive change. The feeling of charged energy increases, making their hair stand on end, while bits and pieces of his idea form and unform in the mist, lights brightening and fading, the fire flickering in first and then suddenly, all at once -- they're exactly where he willed. The original mirror hangs on the wall, and the original door sits near it, apparently leading off somewhere inside.
Small Ariel looks a little flushed, balling his good hand in the dog's fur along with the note and looking around in awe.]
Re: a void
[Is that the heart of Ariel, just emptiness? It explains a lot.]
Is there anything you want it to be?
Re: a void
Re: a void
Re: a void
[The mist. Evidently it was even more of a void.]
Re: a void
Re: a void
But it's scary.
Re: a void
[He sets the kid down, rummaging in his bag for those blank sheets of stationary and a pen.]

Re: a void
[This is weird but he's holding onto it. And writing it seems to have made the mist glow, in the faintest of ways.
Tiny Ariel on the other hand seems to have no useful input whatsoever. He's five and still kinda tipsy, Sion.]
...I want cake.
Re: a void
[He ruffles Ariel's hair.]
How do I make them manifest?
Re: a void
Re: a void
[He looks at the mists and wants a dog. A big happy loyal good dog. Wants it a lot.]
Re: a void
Small Ariel jumps.]
--Oh!
Re: a void
[He holds his hand out for the dog.]
Come here. Sit.
[He's going to pet those fluffy ears.]

...You did change it.
Re: a void
Re: a void
[He looks a little less nervous than he did before. But also kind of dazed. Whatever you just did it made a big impact gj.]
Re: a void
[He gets up and pets Ariel's hair.]
Remember everything I said, okay?
[Going to check out the door.]
